One Word Photo Challenge – Change

Nothing that is can pause or stay;
The moon will wax, the moon will wane,
The mist and cloud will turn to rain,
The rain to mist and cloud again,
Tomorrow be today.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Brothers then…
And now…

My older sister Anne, whose gentle hand I still feel on my shoulder. Then…
And now. (Anne on left)

Our backyard tire swing. Joyous come Summer….
Lonely in Winter

I am an ex New Yorker who still misses the vibrancy of the city. I seek out the humor in every day life and relay it through my stories in the hope others will appreciate as well. I love to write about growing up with my fantastically unique Irish mother whose memory inspires me every day. Although she is no longer with us, her antics are an endless staple for my tales. I currently live in Connecticut with my husband, two sons and toy fox terrier Anabel.

    1. Thank you for appreciating. My family is very important to me and I love to reveal our close relationship through photographs. Within my blog are also several short stories about my mother, father and three sisters, all humorous in nature. The poem I chose for this challenge touches me in both its beauty and sadness. I have used poetry before as an oppening to a photo challenge but this one in particular evoked strong feelings in many readers. It really is lovely.

  1. Wonderful photo’s! And gee, how much you and your sister look alike…
    The pictures of the brothers are moving (I think of my own son, and how time flies). In the first picture they are so cute, but man are they handsome now!!

    1. Thank you Noortje! I have three sisters (four girls total) and somehow ended up with two sons! Let’s just say they are in touch with their feminine side as I knew nothing about growing up with boys. You might enjoy a short story I wrote entitled “In the Company of Women” about my father living among all females. He was wonderful and loved females 🙂
