Daily Post Word Challenge – Early Bird

“Sweet is the breath of morn, her rising sweet, with charm of earliest birds”   John Milton

Dawn of Christmas Morning 2014
Our beautiful resident pheasant. He graced us with his presence, early morning, for over three years. Then one day, came no more…To learn more about the bird, please read my short tribute “Ode to a Pheasant” https://nynkblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/ode-to-a-pheasant/

I am an ex New Yorker who still misses the vibrancy of the city. I seek out the humor in every day life and relay it through my stories in the hope others will appreciate as well. I love to write about growing up with my fantastically unique Irish mother whose memory inspires me every day. Although she is no longer with us, her antics are an endless staple for my tales. I currently live in Connecticut with my husband, two sons and toy fox terrier Anabel.

      1. well first of all – thanks for linking the place where I can find the former post – I have ha d a few blogged note they wrote about something – and not to be a crab – but I think ok – cool – but I am not doing a search to go and find it – lol – however, when a sweet blogger takes the time to provide a hospitable link – it makes it easy and a delight go go and read – and so off I go…. and thx again

    1. Well thank you! but the shot did not come easy. I lured the wild bird with a trail I created with bird seed and then success! heard the creature loudly crowing (in thanks no doubt) outside my bedroom window early one morning. I quickly grabbed the camera and hiding behind sill quickly snapped (pheasants are extremely skittish and also very wily). I wrote about the bird on my blog if you have the time and/or inclination “Ode to a Pheasant.” https://nynkblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/ode-to-a-pheasant/ Thanks for visiting and you never know what the older folks may do in a moment of whimsy. You may just get a perfect picture!

  1. Thanks for stopping by this morning and liking my motion pic and poem about Summer’s Delights. Am relatively new to blogging and just took up poetry writing in February. Most enjoyable is the “return policy” that seems to resonate with bloggers. As in I’ve enjoyed meandering your site, discovered with your Like. Absolutely love the Christmas morn photo. Seems to be nature’s gift for the day!
At this “rejuvenatement” period in my life (see my About), it’s a real gift to sit with my morning coffee and find pleasures like these!
